Companies in European construction sector do not seek exemption from scope of ‘28th regime’

02/06/2026 (Agence Europe)Contrary to what we wrote in our edition of Monday 1 June (see EUROPE 13878/15), the request for an exemption from the scope of the new 28th regime for companies is being made by trade unions representing workers in the construction sector, represented by the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW), and not by employers in the construction sector, as our title may have suggested. Companies in the sector, represented in particular by FIEC, have not expressed such a request. The EFBWW reiterated on Monday its concerns regarding the planned 28th regime for companies, following the debate on the subject held on 28 May by the EU27 ministers responsible for Competitiveness (see EUROPE 13876/2). Please accept our apologies. (SP)
