02/06/26 (Agence Europe) – According to the latest report by the European Commission, published on Tuesday 2 June, EU agri-food trade recorded a surplus of €4.4 billion in February 2026, up 43% compared with January. Over the first two months of the year, the cumulative surplus remained stable at €7.4 billion, comparable to the same period in 2025. EU agri-food exports reached €18.8 billion in February (+6% month on month, but -4% year on year), while imports fell to €14.5 billion (-1% month on month and -5% year on year), contributing to the improvement in the trade balance. The United Kingdom remained the leading destination for European exports, despite a decline in sales, notably of pigmeat and cereals. On the import side, declines related to cocoa, cereals and oilseeds, while purchases of beef, fruit and certain oils increased. (LC)
