Call for proposals for research projects aimed at attracting talented scientists to EU

02/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 2 June, the European Research Council (ERC) launched a first call for proposals for the award of around 30 ‘ERC Plus Grants’ aimed at attracting and/or retaining scientific talent as part of ambitious research projects to be carried out in research centres established in the European Union or in a third country associated with the Horizon Europe programme. Each project may receive up to €7 million over a minimum period of four years and a maximum of seven years from the ‘Choose Europe’ initiative, launched by the European Commission in May 2025 with a view to attracting scientists affected by budget cuts implemented in the United States by the Trump administration (see EUROPE 13633/5).
