Cyprus Presidency of EU Council includes ban on AI that generates sexual deepfakes in revision of AI Act regulation

France and Spain have won their case. In the final version of the draft negotiating mandate of the EU27 on the AI part of the digital simplification package (see EUROPE B13822A13), an amendment has been added to explicitly prohibit artificial intelligence (AI) models likely to generate deepfakes and non-consensual sexually explicit content. An addition backed by Paris and Madrid, and supported, according to our information, by Berlin and Bratislava.
