10/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – In a press release published on Tuesday 10 March, the European Commission confirmed that the previous day it had activated a flexible financing mechanism enabling the World Food Programme to deliver 404 tonnes of food to 90,000 disaster victims in Lebanon. The country has been particularly hard hit by the regional conflict, with more than 680,000 people displaced in recent days. In this context, the system “allows for faster mobilisation of pre-positioned food stocks and rapid provision of cooked meals”, the press release states. A humanitarian airlift is still scheduled to deliver medical supplies, shelters, winter clothing and recreational kits for UNICEF, targeting 100,000 vulnerable people. Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, reaffirmed her support “for the most vulnerable at this difficult time”, adding that “the people of Lebanon can count on the European Union”.
