Italy’s Milos Argenton, new EU Force Commander for Operation ASPIDES

10/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – At its meeting on Tuesday 3 March, the Political and Security Committee decided to appoint Italy’s Milos Argenton as EU Force Commander for EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, the European Union’s maritime security operation to preserve freedom of navigation in the context of the crisis in the Red Sea, with effect from 14 March 2026, according to the decision’s legal document published in the Official Journal of the EU on 10 March.
