10/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 10 March, the European Parliament adopted by an overwhelming majority (602 votes in favour, 9 against, 8 abstentions) the draft report by Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová (Renew Europe, Slovak), which advocates a citizen-centred policy on access to documents held by the EU institutions (see EUROPE 13796/22). During the vote, the following amendments were all rejected: from the far-right PfE groups criticising “the general lack of transparency and proper control in the [financial] relations between the EU institutions and NGOs”, and those from ESN calling for an examination of the conduct of the President of the European Commission in the case of the SMS exchanges with the CEO of Pfizer (see EUROPE 13640/1). In its report, the European Parliament calls on the Commission to review the compatibility of its internal rules with EU law and case law and to propose a modernisation of the regulatory framework.
