22/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 21 January, the European Commission announced that bids for the supply of hydrogen from 260 projects had been submitted by European and international companies between 12 November 2025 and 2 January 2026, as part of the first phase of the ‘hydrogen mechanism’ (see EUROPE 13751/21). It has been launched as part of the new European ‘Energy and Raw Materials’ platform, designed to put potential buyers in Europe in touch with suppliers of renewable, low-carbon hydrogen. Hydrogen derivatives such as ammonia, methanol, e-methane and electro-sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) are also taken into account. Interested European buyers have until 20 March to express their interest in these bids. (PLD)
