On Thursday 22 January, the European Commission launched the 2026 calls for proposals to support campaigns and events promoting the consumption of high-quality, sustainable agri-food products from the European Union, both within the EU and worldwide.
Up to €160 million will be made available to co-finance programmes proposed by producer groups and other professional organisations in the agri-food sector on the EU internal market as well as on major non-EU markets with high growth potential, including the UK, Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore and North America.
These three-month calls for proposals (https://aeur.eu/f/kcc ) are part of the 2026 promotion policy work programme: €205 million have been earmarked to co-finance activities to promote EU agri-food products (see EUROPE 13775/25). This is the largest budget ever devoted to raising consumer awareness of European agricultural products. These actions aim to increase awareness of the quality of EU products and to highlight the efforts made by EU farmers and agri-food businesses to comply with high safety and environmental standards.
In addition, the work programme includes initiatives implemented directly by the Commission, such as promotion and information campaigns in third countries, EU participation in major international agri-food trade fairs and visits by Commissioner for Agriculture Christophe Hansen to third countries.
