13/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday13 October, the Council of the European Union adopted the decision to revise the EU/Ukraine Trade Agreement (DCFTA) along the lines proposed by the European Commission in June (see EUROPE 13726/28). This green light will enable the DCFTA Association Committee to adopt the decision and implement the new tariff quotas decided on, as well as the terms of the safeguard to protect European farmers. While the EU has agreed to extend certain agricultural import quotas from Ukraine, it has also introduced a safeguard mechanism capable of reacting quickly in the event of too large an influx of agricultural products, even in a single EU country. The European Commission will also have to monitor the alignment of Ukrainian standards with those of the EU. (LM)
