02/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 2 October, the European Commission announced the registration of three new geographical indications at Community level. These include the Italian Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) ‘Olive taggiasche liguri’, which designates olives and olive pastes from Liguria. Another Italian PGI has also been registered: ‘Carne Salada del Trentino’, a traditional salted meat from Trentino. Finally, Spain has obtained a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) for ‘Tharsys’, a red, white and rosé wine produced in Requena, a region that has been graced by vineyards since the 16th century and is home to an underground cellar dating back to the 19th century. The wines develop different aromas depending on their age and colour, from the intense floral notes of young reds to the smoky aromas of barrel-aged rosés. (LC)
