Council of Europe sets up a Commission to define compensation for damage caused by Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine

In a vote on Wednesday 2 October, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) gave the go-ahead for the opening for signature of the Convention on the establishment of an International Commission to review Ukraine’s claims.

The adoption of this Opinion, by a unanimous 84 votes, is a step forward in relation to the establishment of a Register of Damage for Ukraine decided at the Summit of heads of state or government of the Council of Europe held in Reykjavik in May 2023...
