Committee on Legal Affairs refuses to waive immunity of Ilaria Salis

On Tuesday 23 September, European Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) decided not to waive the immunity of Italian Ilaria Salis (The Left). A second vote will take place at the plenary session on Tuesday 7 October.

Welcoming the rejection of a request from “the Hungarian regime” to waive her immunity, Ms Salis said, via X, that she was “convinced that Parliament would confirm this choice” in plenary. “Defending my immunity does not mean shielding me from justice,...
