22/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 16 September, the European Commission opened a public consultation on the implementation of the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA). These are provisions relating to environmental sustainability requirements in public procurement procedures. Technologies supplied under public procurement that fall within the scope of the NZIA must meet certain minimum criteria, which the Commission has yet to specify. In a draft delegated act that it hopes to adopt before the end of the year, the Commission is proposing to list criteria for the following products: solar panels and onshore and offshore wind turbines. Other technologies such as batteries and heat pumps are already covered by sustainability criteria set at European level, or are about to be. Stakeholders can submit feedback until 14 October.
