22/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – During her visit to Azerbaijan, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, agreed to set up a high-level economic working group to strengthen economic cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan and boost investment under the Global Gateway, the European Commission announced on Monday 22 September. The aim is to strengthen economic convergence between the EU and Baku, a European source told Agence Europe, adding that the country was keen to engage with the Union on the connectivity agenda - presented as part of the Black Sea strategy - and on demining. In this respect, Ms Kos announced her intention to step up support for mine-affected areas. The EU and its Member States are the main donor for humanitarian demining in the country, with aid of up to €23 million. (CG)
