Fifty-six percent of respondents to the survey on Codes of Practice for Knowledge Valorisation by research and innovation (R&I) actors admitted that they were unfamiliar with these Codes, according to the results published by the European Commission on Friday 19 September.
The survey, which ended in June, was designed to gather feedback from R&I actors on their use of the Commission’s Codes of Practice for Knowledge Valorisation (see EUROPE 13364/16). Since 2023, the Commission has adopted four Codes, which provide practical guidance in making research results work for market and society.
However, once respondents had familiarised themselves with the Codes through the survey, the large majority considered them helpful for their own work or to raise the need for policy reform and support, and 48% are already planning to use them in the future. The survey participants use or plan to use the Codes mainly to develop strategies in their own organisations as well as for awareness raising.
