Collapse of governing coalition after withdrawal of Geert Wilders’ party

03/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 June, Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders announced via the X network that his ‘Party for Freedom’ (PVV) was withdrawing from the government coalition following a disagreement over immigration. “No signature for our asylum plan... The PVV is leaving the coalition”, he declared. This move opens the door to new general elections barely a year after the current government, led by Dick Schoof, took office.
