03/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 2 June, the European Union launched the prototype of a digital ocean platform at the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice, to support more effective decision-making on marine policy and conservation. Presented in the brand new ‘European Digital Ocean Pavilion’, this platform - the ‘Digital Twin of the Ocean (EU DTO)’ - integrates satellite data, in situ observations, artificial intelligence and modelling tools to provide a dynamic view of ocean conditions and trends. The European Commission is committed to making this tool operational, to enable major advances in the conservation and management of marine environments. Open to the public from 2 to 13 June, the pavilion highlights European ocean monitoring initiatives (including the Copernicus marine monitoring service). (LC)
