08/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – The Court of Justice of the European Union has imposed fines on three Member States for failing to transpose directives governing copyright and neighbouring rights in the digital environment, applicable from June 2021 (see EUROPE 13122/31): – Bulgaria will have to pay, in each case, €1 million for failure to transpose Directive 2019/789 (Case C-198/23) and failure to transpose Directive 2019/790 (Case C-186/23); – Denmark will have to pay €1.6 million for failure to transpose Directive 2019/790 (Case C-214/23); – Portugal will have to pay €2.5 million for failure to transpose Directive 2019/790 (Case C-211/23).
