Fines imposed on three EU countries for failure to transpose directives protecting copyright and related rights in digital environment

08/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – The Court of Justice of the European Union has imposed fines on three Member States for failing to transpose directives governing copyright and neighbouring rights in the digital environment, applicable from June 2021 (see EUROPE B13122A31): – Bulgaria will have to pay, in each case, €1 million for failure to transpose Directive 2019/789 (Case C-198/23) and failure to transpose Directive 2019/790 (Case C-186/23); – Denmark will have to pay...
