The Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) has welcomed the European Parliament’s own-initiative report on the post-2027 multiannual financial framework (MFF), following the vote on Wednesday 7 May (see EUROPE 13635/1).
The CER welcomes the European Parliament’s recognition of the vital role transport plays in Europe’s future growth and resilience. It also welcomes the report’s attention to funding for dual-use infrastructure and rolling stock. It supports the impetus to implement the EU Strategy for Sustainable Tourism and endorses Parliament’s efforts to phase out all fossil fuel subsidies and other environmentally harmful subsidies in the next multiannual financial framework.
“The report makes it crystal clear that the Connecting Europe Facility must be continued and provided with adequate funding. We encourage the Commission to take up this position in the upcoming MFF proposal”, commented Alberto Mazzola, Executive Director of the CER. (Original version in French by Anne Damiani)
