08/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 7 May, a spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS) condemned the drone attacks carried out over the past few days by the Rapid Support Forces on Port Sudan, denouncing a worrying escalation of the conflict in Sudan. According to the EEAS, these strikes, which targeted civilian and strategic infrastructure, are endangering the lives of thousands of civilians and humanitarian workers who had fled the active combat zones to take refuge in the region. “Such actions, supported by international backers, not only threaten the safety and well-being of Sudanese civilians and international staff residing in Port Sudan but also undermine regional stability and violate international humanitarian law”, said Anouar El Anouni in a statement on Wednesday, urging states that provide military support to the warring parties to immediately suspend their aid. On Thursday, AFP reported further drone attacks. (BD)
