08/05/25 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 8 May, the European Commission launched a call for evidence to develop its future external digital policy, ahead of the communication scheduled for early June on the ‘International Digital Strategy’. While the details of this communication are not yet known, it is expected to set out how the EU intends to strengthen its role on the global digital stage, particularly with regard to artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Back in April, the Commission unveiled its ‘AI Continent Action Plan’ with the aim of “shaping the next phase of AI development”. The forthcoming communication on the ‘International Digital Strategy’ should also draw on these initiatives to strengthen the EU’s technological sovereignty, with a focus on security and defence. The call for evidence is open until 21 May. To see the call for evidence: https://aeur.eu/f/gpj (IS)
