16/04/25 (Agence Europe) – The British and French governments are currently negotiating an agreement on the return of migrants, according to a report in the Financial Times on Wednesday 16 April. This agreement would involve the deportation of one person from the UK in exchange for the return of another person by France. The aim is to extend this agreement into a broader European initiative. This pilot project aims to send back to France a small number of irregular migrants who have arrived in the UK via the English Channel. The UK is also considering accepting a limited number of migrants from France who have the right to stay in the UK, in particular those with the legitimate reason of family reunification. (SP)
