14/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 10 April, the ambassadors of the EU, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, France, Poland, Portugal and Sweden, as well as representatives of the Czech Republic and Spain, took part in the first ‘Partnership Dialogue’ between the Republic of Mauritius and the European Union under the Samoa Agreement (see EUROPE 13293/19). Port-Louis and the EU took stock of their relations since the last dialogue in 2022. “Instability is the order of the day, and in Europe, we face war and pressure from all sides. In this situation, we must remain reliable partners”, stressed EU ambassador Oskar Benedikt to his Mauritian partners. The EU presented its ‘Global Gateway’ investment initiative to the island - a dynamic player in African integration - which reiterated its ambition to become a regional innovation hub. (BD)
