16/10/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 16 October, during a visit to a vaccine factory in Diamniadio (Senegal), the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, announced a new €25 million grant for the pharmaceutical ecosystem. The funding has been allocated via Team Europe (see EUROPE 13504/5), which aims to support “Africa’s health autonomy and global health security”, the Commissioner said on X. On Tuesday, Ms Urpilainen also announced new EU funding of €20 million for the African Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to support the fight against the Mpox virus, mainly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
