27/09/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 27 September, the EU’s Committee of Professional Agricultural Organisations (COPA) decided to elect Massimiliano Giansanti (Confagricoltura) from Italy as its new president. He will lead the organisation for the next two years. Mr Giansanti “steps into this role at a pivotal moment, as the EU’s vision for its agricultural future is taking shape amid heightened concerns on the ground”, according to a COPA press release. A team of six vice-presidents has been newly elected: Nikolaus Berlakovich (LKÖ, Austria), Søren Søndergard (DAFC, Denmark), Franck Sander (FNSEA, France), Pedro Barato (ASAJA, Spain), Jan Doležal (AKCR, Czech Republic) and Francie Gorman (IFA, Ireland).
