27/09/2024 (Agence Europe) – President-elect of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will meet Swiss and British leaders on 1 and 2 October, the European Commission announced on Friday 27 September. She will be in Geneva on 1 October for the 70th anniversary of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, an event at which she will meet President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amherd. The EU and Switzerland are trying to conclude a new agreement by the end of the year to reset bilateral relations. On 2 October, Ms von der Leyen will welcome British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Brussels, as the two parties are also seeking to relaunch relations following Brexit. (SP)
