On Monday 17 June, the European Commission welcomed the adoption by the EU Council of a decision authorising the EU to conclude the United Nations Agreement on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ), also known as the ‘High Seas Treaty’.
The EU Council adopted acts on the agreement on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity outside national waters (see EUROPE B13400A22).
