17/06/24 (Agence Europe) – Inaugurated on 29 May, the European Commission’s Artificial Intelligence Office has filled all but two of its positions (see EUROPE 13419/7). Lucilla Sioli, previously Director for AI and Digital Industry at the Commission, is taking over as head of the Office as a whole. The regulatory unit will be headed by Kilian Gross, formerly in charge of developing and coordinating AI policy at DG CONNECT. The AI and Robotics unit will be headed by Cécile Huet, while the unit responsible for AI’s ‘societal benefits’ will be headed by Martin Bailey. The AI Innovation and Policy Coordination unit is to be headed by Małgorzata Nikowska. The positions of chief scientific adviser and head of the AI Safety unit are still vacant and not expected to be announced until the summer, according to an internal source. (IS)
