On Tuesday 14 May, the European Commission announced that it had approved a Spanish aid measure (SA.113231), notified under the Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework and with a budget of €1.1 billion, to support investment in the production of equipment needed to foster the transition to a net-zero emissions economy in strategic sectors in the region of Asturias.
This measure will be supported in part by the ‘Recovery and Resilience Facility’, the main instrument of the NextGenerationEU European Recovery Plan.
The aid scheme will be open to companies that produce equipment needed for the energy transition (batteries, solar panels, heat pumps, etc.) as well as key components or critical raw materials used in the production of this equipment.
The aid will reach beneficiaries until 31 December 2025 in the form of direct grants. (Original version in French by Émilie Vanderhulst)
