29/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – Meeting in plenary session on Thursday 29 February, MEPs voted in favour of the text of the provisional agreement reached between the institutions on the regulation on the collection and sharing of data on short-term accommodation: 493 votes in favour, 14 against and 33 abstentions (see EUROPE 13294/8). The aim of this text is to put in place a single digital entry point so that data from platforms such as Booking or Airbnb on accommodation providers - their address or registration number - can be transmitted to the Member States each month (see EUROPE 13058/1). The data collected would be aggregated, compiled in statistical form and shared with Member States so that they can develop and implement “proportionate policy measures”. The text must now be officially approved by the Member States before it can come into force. (IS)
