European Commission opens infringement proceedings against Hungarian law on defence of national sovereignty

On Wednesday 7 February, the European Commission decided to send a letter of formal notice to Hungary, the first stage in an infringement proceedings, for breaching EU legislation.

This decision relates to the new law on the defence of national sovereignty, in force since 22 December 2023.
