The European Commission decided, on Wednesday 7 February, to refer Bulgaria, Ireland, Spain, Malta, Portugal and Slovakia to the Court of Justice of the EU. These countries have not finalised the revision of their river basin management plans, as required by the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC), and/or their flood risk management plans, as required by the Flood Risk Assessment and Management Directive (2007/60/EC).
