21/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 21 December, the European Commission announced an additional €147 million in financial support for Hungary under the SURE instrument for temporary Support to mitigate Unemployment Risks in an Emergency. Hungary is the seventh Member State, together with Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania and Malta, to have applied for the instrument in 2021, in addition to the support obtained in 2020. The instrument has thus provided a total of €94.4 billion euros in financial support, of which €89.6 billion was paid to the 19 Member States that applied for it (see EUROPE 12796/12). There is still €5.6 billion available to support those Member States that wish to do so in 2022, the European institution said in its statement. (PH)
