Quartet encourages formation of Palestine National Unity Government and resumption of Israeli transfers of revenue to Palestinian Authority via Temporary International Mechanism

Brussels, 21/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - At their high level meeting in New York on 20 September, the representatives of the Quartet on the Middle East Peace Process restated their concern for the grave crisis in Gaza and the continued stalemate between Israel and the Palestinians. They welcomed the efforts of the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, to form a government of national unity “in the hope that the platform of such a government would reflect Quartet principles”.
