Amnesty International hauls Greece over coals on its treatment of asylum seekers and minorities, and calls on Commission to put pressure on Athens

Brussels, 06/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - "Greece is not respecting European Union standards on the treatment of asylum seekers and migrants", according to a recent report by Amnesty International, which was published in Athens on 5 October. The document also refers to "serious discrimination in Greece against Roma and Muslim minorities".
