06/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Transport Council of 6 October in Luxembourg "may well be a pointless meeting", predicts Paolo Costa (ALDE, Italy), president of the committee on transport of the European Parliament, in a press release, noting that the agenda "does not contain the adoption of any common position on any dossier (...), even though four or five have already been approved at first reading by the European Parliament and all they are waiting for is examination and adoption by the Council" (see other article). Mr Costa, who refers in particular to the dossier on the European driving licence, which "is stuck in a drawer at the Council", protests: "anybody would think that under the UK Presidency, the post-French and Dutch referendum reflection was being converted into inaction, if not actual paralysis, paradoxically justifying the disaffection of the citizens for the European institutions".
