Parliament criticises cuts made by the Council in July

Strasbourg, 15/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - In Strasbourg on Tuesday, most MEP were critical of the cuts made by the Council of Ministers of the EU in July in their first reading of the draft budget for 2005 (see Europe of 17 July 2004). They criticised the reduction of funding for structural activities, internal policies and, in particular, external action and administrative expenses. The EP will have its own first reading of the 2005 draft budget in October.
