Eurocop criticises Ministers' failure to appoint Europol chief

Brussels, 23/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - The President of Eurocop, the European Confederation of Police, has criticised the "scandalous failure" of the Member States to agree on the appointment of the new director of the European Police Office, Europol. At the Justice and Home Affairs Council of 19 July, the 25 decided to start the procedure again from scratch, with a new call for applications (EUROPE of 20 July).
