HCR strongly criticises Italy's expulsion of 30 asylum seekers who arrived on Cap Anamur ship

Brussels, 23/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (HCR) has strongly criticised Italy's expulsion of thirty of the thirty-seven asylum seekers who arrived on the Sicilian coast on board the ship belonging to the German NGO Cap Anamur. In a letter sent to the Italian authorities on Friday, the HCR "expressed its strong concern over apparent disregard for accepted international and European standards" by Italy.
