23/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - During the first half of 2004, 307,223 counterfeit euro banknotes were withdrawn from circulation, according to the European Central Bank (ECB). This figure is slightly lower than the 312,000 fakes registered in the second half of 2003, in comparison with some 9 billion genuine EUR banknotes in circulation.
