Brussels, 16/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - The former Irish Prime Minister, John Bruton, is to be appointed to the head o the European Commission's delegation to the United States next week, taking over for the German diplomat Gunter Burghardt. The 57-year old former Prime Minister was active within the European Convention which drafted the Charter of Fundamental Rights, and, more recently, within the Praesidium of the Convention, which wrote the draft Constitutional Treaty.
