Twelve Member States are to pay back a total of EUR 143 million in unlawful farm spending

Brussels, 16.07.2004 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the European Commission decided to call on twelve Member States (Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom) to reimburse a total of EUR 143.86 million in unlawful agricultural spending (insufficient controls, violation of Community rules). This is the third decision of the year for account clearance after that in May (EUR 120 million, see EUROPE of 4 May...
