Very small majority at EP votes for going to Court of Justice over agreement on data transfer to USA

Strasbourg, 21/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Parliament decided to go to the Court of Justice over the transfer of air passengers' personal data to the USA. The European Parliament voted for this decision by 276 votes for, 260 against with 13 abstentions. The PES, ELDR, Greens/EFA and the GUE/NGL wanted to go to court but the EPP-ED was opposed (EUROPE yesterday p 9).
