Brussels, 24/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the Czech government chose the current Ambassador to the EU, Pavel Telicka as its new Czech candidate for the position of European Commissioner from 1 May. Mr Telicka (38)n was the accession negotiator in chief and will replace the first candidate Milos Kuzvart, who decided to withdraw his candidacy last week due to lack of support from within the government coalition in Prague (EUROPE 24 February p 5).
