Brussels, 09/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Council of Minister of the EU on Monday adopted without debate a regulation with the effect of not modifying this year's total allowable catch (TAC) for anchovies in the Gulf of Gascony. The European Commission, however, had adopted a proposal at the end of October to reduce the 2003 TAC from 33,000 tonnes to 11,000 tonnes for anchovies in the Gulf of Gascony, to take account of warnings from scientists (EUROPE of 29 October, p.8).
