09/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - Poul Nielson, European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, met the Sudanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mustafa Osman Ismail, in Brussels on 9 December. They discusses the peace process in Sudan and EU humanitarian aid to those hit by the Darfur conflict. Since 1994, through its humanitarian aid office Echo, the Commission has awarded humanitarian aid of over 200 million EUR to North and South Sudan, 24 million of which in 2003 alone.
