Brussels, 11/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Parliament's Legal Committee rejected in first reading the European Commission's draft directive on introducing new EU legislation on consumer credit to harmonise divergent national rules, change the EU rules to match the complex range of credit available these days and make lenders more responsible for combatting rising debt among European consumers.
