24/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday evening, Matti Vanhanen was appointed Prime Minister of Finland, replacing Anneli Jäätteenmaki, who was obliged to resign last week. This former journalist from the Centre party (Liberal) was Minister of Defence until last April. Before obtaining this portfolio, he was Member of the European Convention, representing the Finnish Parliament where he has been a member since 1991.
