Parliament calls for measures for employees to be extended to freelance workers

Brussels, 29/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - Adopting the report by Manuel Perez Alvarez (EPP-ED, Spain) on the application of health and safety legislation to freelance workers, the EP endorsed the Commission's proposal but called for amendments. The EP feels that workers' rights to health and safety protection is recognise by the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, independently of workers' legal status, based on the basic human right of protection of dignity and the body.
